Privacy and storage

Product storage explanation · Updated 11 September 2026

CuO Notes keeps your writing in local HTML files. An optional account is separate from your note storage.

Where your notes live

When you choose a folder in a supported browser or an Apple app, notes and attachments are written into that folder. A folder managed by iCloud Drive or another sync service follows that service’s storage and sharing settings.

Browsers without folder access use private browser storage instead. This storage belongs to that browser and website. Clearing website data can remove it. Export your notes and attachments regularly, and keep the ZIP file somewhere outside the browser.

What an account sends

When account services are configured, Supabase handles email/password authentication and account sessions. CuO Notes uses the account service for account and plan information, appearance preferences, and favorite note paths associated with a workspace identifier. Favorite paths can contain note or folder names.

The built-in account service does not upload your note bodies or attachments. Signing in is not a backup of your writing. Copying notes into a folder shared with other people or services is a separate action.

Data on this device

The app retains settings and sign-in session information locally so it can reopen with your preferences. Supported browsers also remember selected folder handles; Apple apps remember folder permissions. Signing out ends the app session but does not delete your local notes.

External content and services

Opening external links leaves CuO Notes. Notes containing remote images or media can request those resources when displayed. Website hosting, authentication, and any file-sync services have their own operational records and privacy practices. This page describes the app’s storage behavior; it does not claim those services keep no logs.

Exports and deletion

A notes-and-attachments export is a portable copy, not a complete account or workspace archive. Keep HTML files beside their matching asset folders. Deleting browser data, files, or an account are different operations; a local file deletion does not by itself delete an account.

Help and account requests

Use the project support tracker for product questions or to request a private contact route for account assistance. Issues are public: do not include passwords, note contents, or account recovery codes.
